The Course Breakdown
Thursdays 5:30 - 7:00 PM
Week One: Begins with an introduction to colour theory, pattern design, and acrylic painting techniques with a few quick activities. Students will plan their compositions and start creating their patterned acrylic paintings, exploring different brush techniques and layering methods.
Week Two: Students will finalize their patterned acrylic paintings, adding finishing touches and details. By the end of the session, they will transition to designing their patterned tote bags, sketching compositions that will later be transferred onto fabric.
Week Three: This session introduces fabric painting techniques and includes a demonstration on how to mix custom fabric paints. Students will mix their fabric paint to achieve personalized colors and textures. They will use fabric markers to outline their designs before applying the paint, focusing on even application and blending techniques.
Week Four: In the final class, students will complete their tote bags by adding fine details using small brushes and fabric markers for precision. The session will conclude with a discussion on heat-setting fabric paint for the durability of our patterned tote bags.
