April 4 week class - Adults

The Course Breakdown

Thursdays 5:30 - 7:00 PM

Week One: Students will experiment with watercolor techniques, discovering what happens when they combine watercolour paint with salt, plastic wrap, crayons, and other materials. This session is all about exploring textures and creative effects.

Week Two: This week focuses on layering colors to create depth and gradients. Students will practice this with two activities: Squiggles and layers & holes. By painting different watercolor layers on top of each other, students will see how colors interact and transform.

Week Three: In week three, we will be introduced to artist Vincent Van Gogh and begin our versions of The Starry Night. Using wax resist, students will then begin drawing the detail in their version of The Starry Night and begin to work on our first few background layers.

Week Four: In our final class, students will continue to add any details they are missing with wax resists to beautiful details. Remembering to work light to dark, students will finish their paintings with an opportunity to use our acrylic paint markers at the end to cover any mistakes or continue to keep adding bold details.
