Make it stand out
March 4 week class - Youth
The Course Breakdown
Thursdays 6-7 PM
Week One: In the first week of this four-week course, students will explore elements of art in particular line, pattern, and texture. Using ink and pencils, they will experiment with mark-making and various drawing techniques to create a catalog of zentangle patterns. This will serve as a reference for their final artwork.
Week Two: This lesson focuses on the different textures that can be created with watercolor. Students will create their reference of watercolour techniques by experimenting with materials such as salt, plastic wrap, and wax resist, observing how these materials interact with watercolor to produce unique effects.
Week Three: Students will begin planning their final composition by selecting a subject and colour palette. Using their references from weeks one and two as a guide, students will start applying their first layers of watercolor, focusing on incorporating rich textures into their artwork.
Week Four: In the final week, students will complete their artwork. They will remove any materials used for texture in the previous session, refine their piece using ink, and make final adjustments. By the end of this session, students will have a finished artwork that showcases their exploration of texture in ink and watercolour.
