Make it stand out
May 4 week class - Youth
The Course Breakdown
Thursdays 6-7 PM
Week One: Students will experiment with watercolor techniques, discovering what happens when they combine watercolour paint with salt, plastic wrap, crayons, and other materials. This session is all about exploring textures and creative effects.
Week Two: This week, students will learn how to layer colors to create depth and gradients. Through two fun activities, "Squiggles" and "Layers & Holes," they will explore how different watercolor layers interact and transform.
Week Three: Students will learn about Vincent Van Gogh and begin creating their versions of The Starry Night. Using wax resist techniques, they will draw swirling patterns and details, then start painting their first background layers.
Week Four: In the final session, students will complete their paintings by adding missing details with wax resist. They will work from light to dark and have the option to use acrylic paint markers to add bold highlights or fix any mistakes. The class will end with a fun showcase of their finished Starry Night artwork!
